The process
I believe in basic materials and how to work directly with them. In them resides something definitely true and essential. The bronze and the colours that are born from the oxides that the fire sets on it. The textures that are generated and the possibility of “painting” on its surface through the patinas. They give me a full range of expressive resources that I need.
I found the lost wax casting more than two decades ago in Africa and from there, on my way back to the origin, it was incorporated into my work.
In the same way that, centuries ago, in a parallel and simultaneous way, this technique was used by Sumerians, Indians, Chinese, and Incas. Today the work of some sculptors, and among them, my own, are still based on the same production technique.
